In the last decade, there were many residential condos built in the Greater Daytona Beach area. This was during the Real Estate "boom" years. Since condo sales have slowed down, condo prices have also fallen.
Condos built along the beach have kept a higher price, however, condos built along the Intercoastal Waterway (called the Halifax River here) have fallen significantly. You may be able to buy or purchase a condo on the mainland for a very reasonable price.
The Daytona Beach area offers a lower cost of living and lower taxes than other parts of Florida. A condo in this area would make a perfect retirement home or a "winter home" for snowbirds that wish to spend the cold months in the warm climate of Florida.
